Australia completed three consecutive wins in the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 after beating the Netherlands by 309 runs. Glenn Maxwell was the star performer for the Aussies as he scored a 40-ball ton t o help post a 399-run. Batting first, the five-time champions got off to a slow start as Mitchell Marsh got out when the score was 28.
Here David Warner and Steven Smith stepped up to post a massive 132-run stand and carried Australia out of early trouble. Though Smith got out, Warner batted with Marnus Labuschagne and Josh Inglis and completed his century. After building the perfect platform, Australia exploded in the last 15 overs courtesy of Glenn Maxwell, who smashed the fastest century in the ODI World Cup history and helped set a 400-run target.
Then in the second innings, Australia showed off some incredible new-ball bowling skills and ran through the Dutch top-order with ease. After Vikramjeet Singh's fiery 25, Netherlands' batting collapsed with Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins and Josh Hazelwood picking up a wicket each. After failing with bat, Marsh picked up two wickets while Adam Zampa's 13th four-wicket haul cleaned up the tail to give Australia a 309-run win.
