With Australia looking in dominant position to win the fourth Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), there have been some disappointing performances for the hosts which will lead them to take a tough call on a few players going into the final Test of the five-match series.

With the fifth Test set to be played from January 3 onwards at the Sydney Cricket Ground, former Aussie cricketer Simon Katich believes that national selection panel will look to reassess the team combination, specifically looking into Mitchell Marsh. It is to be noted that Marsh has struggled to perform with the bat as well as the ball in the series down under.

No doubt Marsh is under pressure: Simon Katich opines

Speaking on the sidelines of the MCG Test, Simon Katich told PTI, "No doubt Marsh is under pressure because he isn’t bowling so much. Even after Josh Hazlewood got injured, he only bowled two overs on a day when Cummins and Starc had to share the workload. There were questions, he then missed out with the bat at MCG and hasn't been able to fulfil the role with the ball. The selectors have a decision to make at the end of this Test."

The 49-year-old further added that they will also look into Mitchell Starc, who is struggling with fitness concerns. Speaking with PTI in an interview, Katich suggested that Jhye Richardson or Sean Abbott could replace Starc. However, it is to be seen what combination Australia plays with in the fifth BGT Test with raising injury concerns in the camp.
