With the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025 less than a week away, Bangladesh on Thursday, February 13 announced Najmul Hossain Shanto’s deputy. The Bangladesh Cricket Board named all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz as their vice-captain for the upcoming marquee tournament, which is set to get underway from February 19 in Pakistan.

The veteran Bangladesh cricketer has played a total of 103 ODIs. He recently led the Tigers during their tour of West Indies in the absence of full-time captain in ODIs and Tests. Under his leadership, Bangladesh went onto draw the Test series, while being clean swept in the ODI series.

Furthermore, BCB confirmed that pacers Hasan Mahmud and Khaled Ahmed have travelled with the side to train and will return following the side’s opening match against India, scheduled to be played on February 20 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai. "Pacers, Hasan Mahmud and Khaled Ahmed will travel to Dubai on Saturday to train with the Bangladesh Champions Trophy squad. The bowlers will return home following Bangladesh's opening match of the tournament against India in Dubai on February 20," stated a statement released by the BCB.

Speaking of the Tigers, they will open their campaign against India, followed by a clash against New Zealand on February 24 at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium and against Pakistan on February 27 at the same venue.
