Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) etched history as they defeated Punjab Kings (PBKS) to lift their maiden Indian Premier League (IPL) title on Tuesday, June 3. While the day will be forever remembered as former RCB captain and batting stalwart, Virat Kohli ended his 17-year-long wait to lift the title with the side.
But what followed the other day was something disappointing to witness. Hours after lifting the title, the Rajat Patidar-led franchise reached Bengaluru, to celebrate the victory with their fans from the city, however, the celebrations turned into tragedy as over 11 people were confirmed dead, whereas more than 50 and counting were left injured.

But as per the latest developments, a senior RCB official was among four people who have been arrested by the Bengaluru Police. As reported by the Bengaluru Police, Head of Business Partnerships at RCB and Sports Marketing Business at Diageo India, Nikhil Sosale has been taken into custody alongside three members of the DNA Entertainment, including Sunil Mathew, Director and Vice President (Business Affairs) at DNA Entertainment.
Notably, all four members were detained after midnight and will be subjected to prolonged questioning over the Bengaluru stampede case. Moreover, the Cubbon Park Police have also filed a suo moto complaint, naming the RCB franchise as the first accused and the DNA Entertainment as the second one. Moreover, they have also named Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) administrative committee as the third one.
However, the tragedy has seen some innocent lives being lost in the massive celebrations, including the victory parade, the authorities are looking into the matter closely.
