Tuesday, June 3 will be etched in the history of Indian Premier League’s (IPL) 18-year-long history as on that day, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) lifted their maiden trophy, beating a quality side like that of Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the summit clash at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Although, both teams were coming of a similar season, RCB changed their gears and played like a collective unit to clinch their maiden title.

The win was even more special as former RCB skipper and a batting stalwart, Virat Kohli was seen in jubilation, alongside the likes of former cricketers and one of the greats of the game, AB de Villiers and Chris Gayle. While there were tears of joy in Kohli’s eyes as RCB inched closer to the win, the emotions that flooded on the field were pure joy.

Virat Kohli leaps into Ravi Shastri’s arms as RCB end their IPL trophy drought; video goes viral

In one of the videos going viral on social media, Virat Kohli was seen bringing up his childish acts in the front as he leaped into former Indian cricketer and head coach, Ravi Shastri’s arms to celebrate RCB’s win. Kohli, 36, ran towards Shastri and embraced him as the duo shared a tight hug.

Virat Kohli’s wife and Bollywood celebrity, Anushka Sharma, who was also present at that moment, watched the two share a special moment and clapped as Shastri looked at her seeing Virat Kohli’s act.

It is to be noted that Kohli and Shastri share a close bond, having worked together previously when the former served as the captain and the former cricketer was the then head coach of the side. After Shastri’s tenure ended post 2021 T20 World Cup in UAE, Kohli also stepped down as India’s T20I captain.
