The Delhi Capitals or the then-Delhi Daredevils have been a crucial part of the Indian Premier League since the tournament's inception in 2008. The Delhi-based franchise had a few great seasons in the early days of the IPL but hit a lean patch from 2011 to 2018, making only one playoff appearance in 2012.
Then in December 2018, the franchise ditched the Daredevils named and rebranded their team as the Delhi Capitals. The change led to better results as the team made three playoffs in the next five years. Openers - Virender Sehwag, Shikhar Dhawan
Delhi Capitals' opening pair would include Indian greats Virender Sehwag and Shikhar Dhawan. Sehwag played most of his IPL career in Delhi, scoring 2382 runs in 86 matches at a strike rate of 158.37. On the other hand, Dhawan played 30 matches for Delhi in the 2008 and 2019 seasons while putting up 861 runs at an average of 35.87 and a 126.80 strike rate.
