Bruno Fernandes, the captain of Manchester United, was on a losing side in the final of the UEFA Europa League (UEL) with a 1-0 margin against Tottenham Hotspur at the San Mames Stadium in Bilbao earlier this week. After such a big loss in the European final, Manchester United have been backed in a corner in terms of their finances, incurring £10 million penalty to sponsors Adidas after missing out on the UEFA Champions League (UCL) qualification for next season.

Under Bruno Fernandes’ captaincy, Manchester United are set to finish in their worst position in the Premier League history, in either 16th or 17th place, to lose out of millions of dollars in merit payments from the organisers of the competition. In the Premier League era, which began in the 1992-93 season, Manchester United have never finished below eighth place in nearly a quarter of a century, so their current positioning on the table is as dismal as it can get.

Bruno Fernandes offered £200 million deal by Al-Hilal: Reports

Amid that, a report in Daily Mail has revealed that Bruno Fernandes has been given a deadline of next week to decide whether he would leave Manchester United after signing a £200 million contract with Al-Hilal. The Saudi Arabian club are looking to offer a £100 million transfer fee to Manchester United while giving the Portuguese midfielder a basic £700,000-a-week and up to £65 million-a-season including signing-on fee and bonuses.

While the sources have stated that Manchester United aren’t wanting to sell Bruno Fernandes, who is the captain of their team, the financial pressures on the club in the aftermath of the UEL final defeat could make them change their stance. The non-qualification to the UCL next season meant that the Red Devils have lost out on £100 million revenue from the competition.

The urgency from Al-Hilal to sign Bruno Fernandes stems from the fact that they want him to play for them in the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 next month in the USA.
