A bantamweight clash is expected at the UFC between Mario Bautista and former bantamweight champion Cody Garbrandt at an upcoming UFC event scheduled on August 19. However, the location of the bout is yet to be announced. As confirmed by a news portal, the bantamweight bout was in the works, but the location hasn’t been determined yet.

The upcoming bout will mark Garbrandt’s first fight after he took down Trevin Jones at UFC 284 in March. The fight saw the return of Garbrandt to 135 lbs, after he failed to move to flyweight and saw fall to Kai Kara-France. The win was pretty significant for the former bantamweight champion, before he held the UFC bantamweight title before suffering three loses in the division, including two to former teammate T.J. Dillashaw.

On the flip side, Bautista is currently riding a four-fight winning streak, with his recent win over Guido Cannetti with a first-round rear naked choke in March. He is currently 6-2 inside the octagon in eight fights, and before joining UFC in 2019, he had competed for LFA and Combate Americas.

Notably, Cody Garbrandt, who is also known as ‘No Love’ achieved the bantamweight title in his eleventh professional fight. He challenged then bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz at UFC 207 in 2016 and got famous for his quick strikes and feints. Garbrandt vs Bautista is the first fight confirmed for the August 19 UFC event, as UFC continues filling the summer schedule.
