Del hi Capitals bowler Rasikh Salam Dar was punished for his over-the-top celebration against Gujarat Titans at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. The Capitals pulled off a thrilling four-run win over the IPL 2023 finalists on the back of captain Rishabh Pant's 43-ball 88 in the first innings and  Rasikh Salam Dar's 3-44 along with Kuldeep Yadav's 2-29 in the second.

Salam dismissed Sai Sudharsan, Shahrukh Khan and R Sai Kishore, turning the game in Delhi's favour. The Jammu and Kashmir pacer also held on to a stunning catch to dismiss David Miller. After the match, the 24-year-old was reprimanded as he breached  Article 2.5 of the IPL's Code of Conduct. 

Rasikh Salam Dar punished for breaching IPL's Code of Conduct

"Rasikh Salam Dar, Bowler, Delhi Capitals has been reprimanded for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct during Match 40 of the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 against Gujarat Titans at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi on April 24, 2024," IPL stated in a statement.

"Dar committed a Level 1 offence under Article 2.5 of the IPL's Code of Conduct. He admitted to the offence and accepted the Match Referee's sanction. For Level 1 breaches of the Code of Conduct, the Match Referee's decision is final and binding," it added.

Nortje was having a tough time: Pant on Rasikh bowling  18th over

DC captain Rishabh Pant, in his post-match interview, spoke about  Rasikh Salam Dar's bowling effort and the decision behind entrusting the youngster to bowl the 18th over. Pant revealed he wanted to go with someone who was bowling well in the game and hence turned to  Rasikh.

The Capitals skipper said, "Nortje was having a tough time. T20 is a funny game, after 14-15 overs the ball was coming on nicely. So we wanted to trust Rasikh, always trust someone who is bowling well in a game. I think it is about instincts as a captain, it will come off sometimes. Happy it worked today."
