Ahead of the start of another badminton tournament, there is a big news coming from the Indian team. After Indian men’s doubles player Satwiksairaj Rankireddy failed to regain full fitness, he has been replaced in the side for the Asia Mixed Championships.

The Badminton Association of India (BAI) on Wednesday (8 February) announced Satwiksairaj’s replacement. The 22-year-old Dhruv Kapila will now partner Chirag Shetty after Satwik sustained a hip injury and was ruled out of the upcoming tournament.

The tournament will take place from 14 to 19 February in Dubai. Talking about India, they will begin their campaign against Commonwealth Games champions Malaysia on February. India is placed in Group B alongside Malaysia, hosts UAE and Kazakhstan.


The tournament organisers on Sunday (5 February) announced the schedule for the 17-team event. D efending champions China will be in the action on the first day at the Expo City Dubai Exhibition Centre. They will take on Uzbekistan in a Group A clash, while Japan and Indonesia will be up against Pakistan and Syria, respectively, in Group D and C.
