While the 1983 Cricket World Cup victory for India was always one of the country's most significant sporting achievements, fans have had the opportunity to relive the campaign and the win, courtesy of the new Bollywood film based on the same. The Ranveer Singh-starrer titled 83 has received great responses from critics and cricket lovers alike, with fans young and old all going to the theatres to watch the film.

Amid the buzz around the film and the team that won the World Cup led by Kapil Dev, an old interview of the movie's director Kabir Khan has resurfaced on the internet. In the interview, the Director of movies like Bajrangi Bhaijaan revealed that the captain of the 1983 West Indies side Clive Lloyd who were the opponents in the final against India and favourites to get a hold of the trophy for the record third time, had apparently visited the 83 sets at Lord's when they were filming the climax of the movie.

However, Lloyd apparently refused to come close to the shooting space.

"..We were on the same balcony at the Lords, in the same spot recreating the moment after many years. And at that moment, Clive Lloyd walked in and sat beside me. I asked the living legend if he wanted to move closer to the shooting space. With a straight face, he replied, ‘Do you want me to see the Cup given way the second time?'.." Khan told Indian Express.

When Lloyd appeared at Lord's, thought we were seeing a ghost: Ranveer Singh

Meanwhile, in a recent interview, the lead actor Ranveer who is playing the role of Kapil Dev, the Indian skipper, also revealed his experience of meeting Lloyd. He admitted that they thought they were seeing a ghost since Lloyd appeared out of nowhere.

While India had made just 183 runs on the board in the 60-over contest, they made a match out of it by getting an early wicket. However, as Viv Richards took the attack to the Indian, the World Cup still looked a distant dream, but Madan Lal got Richards to mistime one shot on the on side and Dev completed a fine catch to get rid of the master batter, a scene with which the movie begins. The moment has often been regarded as one of the biggest turning points of the epic clash.
