Dommaraju Gukesh, a grandmaster from India, won the Menorca Chess Open 2023 on Sunday for the second consecutive year. The teen lost a tiebreak after finishing with 7 points after 9 rounds. He was tied with eight players for first place in the final standings as Gukesh entered the final day as one of the seven leaders. Gukesh drew his match against Vladimir Fedoseev in the last round. 


Nonetheless, Gukesh and fellow Indian V Pranav received identical tiebreaker scores. The match then went to a blitz tiebreak, which the former won 1.5-0.5 to retain his Menorca Open championship. The prize money for first place in the coveted tournament was 3,000 Euros. The grandmaster took to Twitter to announce this victory. 


Gukesh also won the World Chess Armageddon Asia & Oceania event last week. The genius teen has been in great form since 2022 and has won multiple competitions in recent days. The achievements he has completed at such a young age are unbelievable.
