Team India pacer Jasprit Bumrah looked excellent with the ball in the third test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy played at the iconic Lord’s. In the first innings, he grabbed a fifer and broke into record books for picking up a fifer. Talking about his overall numbers in the game, he bagged seven wickets in the match. After playing the third Test, there is a question whether the speedster will show up in the fourth game as there was news before the start of the series that he might play only three matches in the series due to the workload management, which is why the players in reserve like Akash Deep and Arshdeep Singh were always in the hunt to play matches on England tour.
Until the third Test, the workload policy was followed, and now it will be interesting to see whether Jasprit Bumrah will feature in India’s playing XI against England in Manchester. For India, the fourth Test has become a do-or-die as the defeat in this game will crush India’s series-win prospects completely. Amidst these scenarios, India’s assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate spoke to the media and issued a statement which indicates that India might include their star bowler in the 11-member squad for the upcoming match.
“We’ll make that call in Manchester. We know we’ve got him for one of the last two Tests. I think it’s pretty obvious the series is on the line now in Manchester, so there will be a leaning towards playing him,” remarked ten Doeschate.
Arshdeep Singh picks up an injury during practice session
On July 17, an unfortunate piece of news emerged for Team India supporters as young pacer Arshdeep Singh sustained a cut while stopping a ball during a practice session.
"He took a ball, while he was bowling there, the side of the ball; he tried to stop the ball. It's just a cut, so we have to see how bad the cut is. Obviously, the medical team is taking him to see a doctor and if he needs stitches, that is going to be important to our planning for the next few days," revealed Doeschate.
