The 2019 champions England are all set to kick off their title defence as the World Cup 2023 schedule is out. After completely changing their approach to limited-overs cricket, the Three Lions managed to win their first 50-over World Cup in their 146-year history. Prior to this triumph, the English team had only managed to win the T20 World Cup in 2010.
But since the World Cup victory, the Three Lions have revolutionised cricket and also clinched their second T20 World Cup trophy last year in Australia. Hence coming into this tournament, the Jos Buttler-led side will be among the favourites to become back-to-back world champions. Talking about their recent 50-over form, England defeated Bangladesh away before losing 2-1 to South Africa in the Rainbow Nation.
Coming back to the upcoming 50-over ICC competition, England will begin their campaign against New Zealand on October 5 at the Narendra Modi Stadium. The Three Lions will then play Bangladesh on October 10 in Dharamsala, followed by a match against Afghanistan on October 15. The defending champions will face the hosts India on October 29, followed by a match against Australia on November 4 in Lucknow and Ahmedabad, respectively.
