While the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is reportedly eyeing the September-October window to conduct the remaining matches of the suspended Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021, the biggest challenge in front of the Indian Cricket Board is to ensure availability of overseas players. In a massive blow to the board, Ashley Giles, the ECB Managing Director, has maintained his earlier stance that the priority of his players would be to be on national duty and no adjustment would be made to the international schedule to accommodate the remainder of IPL.

Giles also admitted that some of their players will be rested for their international tours in the proposed September-October window but ensured that it "wouldn't be for them to go and play cricket elsewhere".

Everyone wants to get their cricket in ECB: Giles

"I'm not aware of anything official, any requests to shift anything," Giles said as quoted in an ESPNCricinfo report.

"As far as we're concerned and what we're prepared for, the matches will be where they are. I'm not surprised there's all sorts of speculation. Everyone wants to get their cricket in. But we've not received anything official and we're cracking on," he added.

Our guys should arrive in best possible shape for T20 World Cup and Ashes, says Giles

Meanwhile, the former England spinner has said that their aim is to get the boys ready for the T20 World Cup and the Ashes.

"We are going to have to give some of these guys a break at some point. But the intention of giving guys a break for, say, Bangladesh, wouldn't be for them to go and play cricket elsewhere," he was quoted.

"We have to manage our schedule now, so we get our guys arriving in the best shape possible for the T20 World Cup and the Ashes," he further said.
