The UFC recently announced through Instagram that MMA legend Georges St-Pierre will be returning to the UFC in December for a no-gi jiu-jitsu match. The former UFC welterweight and middleweight champion also announced his return this Thursday evening during the UFC Fight Pass special event.

As of now, no opponent for St-Pierre has been revealed by the UFC. The highly anticipated return will mark St-Pierre’s first UFC fight since 2017. The Canadian has spent his retirement pursuing other ventures, including being Elon Musk’s private trainer and acting in a Marvel movie.

Speaking on his return, St-Pierre said that even though he was training he felt that he needed something more. “I liked the kick of competition, I’d like to get it back, and I’d like to feel the adrenaline again,” St-Pierre said. “It’s also an avenue from fighters who still want to compete and make money and have fun with the fans and the family of the UFC.”

The UFC Hall of Famer last fought in 2017, which was itself a return after four years at UFC 217. St-Pierre fought Michael Bisping for the middleweight title and won, though he had to relinquish his belt following a diagnosis of ulcerative colitis. Throughout his career, St-Pierre had a record of 26 wins and two losses, including a legendary streak of 13 consecutive victories. Even in a grappling match, fans of UFC will no doubt be excited for the return of a fighter many consider to be the greatest ever.
