The much-awaited IPL 2023 Final has been officially pushed back by a day and will now be played on the Reserve Day, that is May 29 at the Narendra Modi Stadium. Talking about the two teams, while MS Dhoni-led CSK entered the final after beating defending champions Gujarat Titans in Qualifier 1, the latter beat five-time champions Mumbai Indians to reach the final second time in a row.
As the moment got closer to the IPL 2023 Closing Ceremony and the toss, the weather saw a change as rain played a spoilsport to the scheduled IPL Final. However, there seemed some hope that the match could take place with some reduced overs per inning, it saw a complete shift to the Reserve Day. Although, this is not the first time that a cricket match is being shifted to a reserve day.
The moment officials called it suspended for the day, fans and cricket enthusiasts were reminded of MS Dhoni’s last international match. At that time also when India faced New Zealand on July 10,2019 in the semifinal of ODI World Cup, it saw a sudden suspension. Seeing this, fans started speculating it to be MS Dhoni’s last IPL match, terming it a “Deja Vu”.
While some prayed that hope the history doesn’t repeat itself and fans will have to bid farewell to the legend and former India captain MS Dhoni, some started talking of their dream to watch the legend play for one last time, if it is so.
