FC Barcelona’s number 7, Ferran Torres has been operated for appendicitis on 14th May 2025. The operation was performed by Drs. Coroleu and Borras at Hospital de Barcelona, under the supervision of the Club’s Medical Services. The operation means that Torres will likely miss the remaining three LaLiga games for the Blaugrana and will watch on from the stands. Torres posted a story on his Instagram page addressing the Barca supporters by saying, ‘Appendicitis overcome!!! Time to support the team tonight from here so we can become league champions.’
Ferran Torres has also had a significant revival under new manager Hansi Flick as he has stepped up in crucial moments for the team and delivered some top performances. He has already scored 19 goals and provided 7 assists till date, including a hat-trick of assists against Real Madrid in the last El Clasico. Torres came in during a crunch period when Barcelona was missing key striker Robert Lewandowski and scored some fabulous goals. He also finished this season’s stint as the top scorer in the Copa Del Rey tournament with 6 goals.
FC Barcelona can secure LaLiga title with win over Espanyol on 15th May 2025
FC Barcelona are set to face Espanyol on 15th May 2025 in the local Catalan derby at the RCDE stadium in Barcelona. A win tonight will mean that Barca win their 28th LaLiga title with two games to spare. Real Madrid’s win against Mallorca yesterday stopped Barca from winning the title automatically yesterday itself, but they have a chance to finish the job tonight. The victory would be a silver lining for the brilliant campaign Hansi Flick has orchestrated with the Blaugrana this year.
Ferran Torres’s operation means that he will miss tonight’s game. However, Robert Lewandowski’s return from injury will mean that he will most likely start tonight, providing a solid attacking figure against Espanyol. Lewandowski is currently 3 goals behind Kylian Mbappe in the Pichichi race and has three games remaining to cover up the deficit and claim the award.
