The Blue Tigers are all set to play their last match of the FIFA World Cup 2026 Qualifiers second round against Qatar on Tuesday at Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium in Doha. While India's all-time leading international goal-scorer Sunil Chhetri already played his last game against Kuwait on Thursday, Team India will be looking to qualify for the third round with a win against Qatar, however, a different result could hamper their dream to qualify for the World Cup.
In Group A, India are placed second with five points in five matches as they won a game, and shared two losses and draws each. Qatar, on the other hand, are sitting comfortably at the top with 13 points in five matches. A win against Qatar will strengthen India's chance to qualify for third round owing to their better goal difference than Afghanistan.
In their four head-to-head clashes, India have never won a game against Qatar as the latter won three matches while one ended in a draw.
