There have been several instances when a player has represented more than one country in international cricket. Now, Tom Bruce, who has played for New Zealand from 2017 to 2020 is making his comeback in international cricket after five years. However, this time, he will not be seen playing for the Black Caps as he will now represent Scotland Cricket team in the upcoming ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2 series.
Tom Bruce was born in Te Kuiti town in New Zealand in 1991. He made his debut for the Black Caps in a T20I match against Bangladesh in Napier in January 2017. He has played a total of 17 T20Is for New Zealand amassing 279 runs at an average of 18.60 and a strike rate of 122.36. However, Bruce hasn’t been seen playing in international cricket after his last outing in February.

After five years of disappearing from International cricket, Tom Bruce will now be seen making his comeback as he has been included in Scotland’s squad for the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2 series starting on August 27. Almost a decade earlier in 2016, Bruce was also included in Scotland’s Development XI. However, he couldn’t make a full international appearance for Scotland at that time due to ICC regulations and went on to make his debut for New Zealand in 2017.
Having not played any International match since 2020, 34–year-old Tom Bruce will now represent the Scotland Cricket team. He became eligible to play for Scotland as his father was born in Edinburgh.
