Three Goan footballers, namely, Glan Martin, Rowlin Borges, and Jaison Vaz were involved in a car accident late on April 21 (Friday) near Delfinos market, Porvorim. The driver of the car reportedly fell asleep because of which the car rammed into a parked truck. However, Jaison Vaz has been admitted at the Goa Medical College after he suffered severe injuries to his ribs and neck. Meanwhile, Glan Martin and Rowlin Borges suffered minor injuries.
The state police has reported that the driver named Denis was driving the car and it crashed when it reached the market. “Upon reaching near Delfinos market, Porvorim, dashed against a truck which was parked outside the road. An ambulance was called in immediately after the accident and the three were taken to a hospital in Bambolim. After X-rays and tests, one of the occupants was admitted,” the police said. The front of the car was completely damaged after the accident as the pictures of the scene emerged on social media.
Glan Martins sustained four stitches on his face and has already reported for training at his club ATK Mohan Bagan in Kolkata. The club recently won the ISL final against Bengaluru FC and have an important AFC Cup preliminary group stage play-off clash coming up against Hyderabad on May 3.
Meanwhile, Myron Borges has injuries on his hand and the Islanders have already finished their season and it will give him time to recover. However, Jaison Vaz will miss the final second-division clash for Dempo SC against Hyderabad FC juniors after sustaining injuries.
