Ashwini Ponnappa and Tanisha Crasto took down the Chinese Taipei’s Sung Shuo Yun and Yu Chien Hui 21-13, 21-19 to win the Guwahati Masters 2023. This is their second title together as the second-seeded pair at the BWF Super 100 tournament also clinched the Abu Dhabi Masters Super 100 event in 2023.

A week before this triumph, Ashwini Ponnappa and Tanisha Crasto also went to the final of the recent Syed Modi International Super 300 tournament in Lucknow. The Indian pair unfortunately finished as the runner-up after losing the title decider to Japan’s Rin Iwanaga and Kie Nakanishi.
Coming back to Guwahati, the Indian pair had a dominant performance in the first game as Sung Shuo Yun and Yu Chien Hui couldn't find a way back after falling behind early. Ponnappa and Crasto won the first game 21-13 and continued this momentum in the second game as well.

The Indian pair held a 12-6 lead until Sung Shuo Yun and Yu Chien Hui came out swinging and took the scores to 12-11. Despite this lapse of concentration, Ponnappa and Crasto powered through to win 21-19 and win the title.
Later speaking about the match, Ashwini spoke about how the drift was affected as they tried to push the shuttle to the backcourt. “There were some nervous moments but it was the support of the crowd that egged up on and I am happy that we handled the pressure well.”
