Barcelona are likely to extend Hansi Flick’s contract as manager. In May 2024, Flick became the coach of the Catalan club for two years but noting his leadership prowess within a year, there are reports that Barca’s management is looking to increase the German’s term in the side. The development came after a crucial meeting among Flick, his agent Pini Zahavi, and Laporta concluded in a latest agreement which decided that Flick will be a pivotal figure in Barcelona until 2027. Under his leadership, Barca have performed exceptionally in the ongoing La Liga 2024-25.
Following the negotiations with Hansi Flick on May 11, Barcelona celebrated their fourth victory of the season against Real Madrid in El Classico. During the social gathering, the trio settled the deal. The announcement will be made following Barcelona’s La Liga’s title triumph, which is only one victory away. As per reports, the extension contains a mutual opt-out clause, flexibility if a new president handles the mantle next summer, and ensuring adaptability for both Flick and the team.
How can Barca win La Liga for the 28th time?
Barca are currently the leaders in on the La Liga standings with 82 points earned through 26 victories in 35 outings. Following them, their arch-rivals Real Madrid are holding the second spot with 23 wins, six draws, and six losses. With these numbers, Madrid have accumulated 75 points.
The Catalan club has three games left in the season and they require only one win to lift the distinguished trophy. Flick’s team will next face Espanyol at RCDE Stadium on May 16. The 27-time champions will look to be at their best in the upcoming game to add another major achievement to their profile.
