Jay Shah, the Secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), shared the latest update on Hardik Pandya’s ankle injury, stating that he could be fit before India plays the three-match T20I series against Afghanistan this January. The 35-year-old also spoke about how the Indian all-rounder is working hard at the NCA to make a swift recovery.

Hardik Pandya suffered an ankle injury after bowling a delivery in his follow-through during the fourth match of India’s ODI World Cup 2023 campaign against Bangladesh at the MCA Stadium in Pune in mid-October. The 30-year-old didn’t have a big part to play in the CWC till that stage for the hosts, batting only once during the tournament opener against Australia, but he did pick up five wickets in four innings, with an average of 22.40 and an economy of 6.84.
In his recent statement, Jay Shah said the following about Hardik Pandya’s ankle injury, “We are monitoring it on a day-to-day basis. He is at NCA only, he is working very hard and we will let you know in due course the moment he is fit. He could be fit before the Afghanistan series also.”
Jay Shah sways away from questions regarding Rohit Sharma’s captaincy
When Jay Shah was asked the pertinent question in regards to Rohit Sharma’s future as the captain of the Indian cricket team, he tried to sway away from it. The BCCI secretary was quoted as saying, “What is the need to have clarity right now? It (T20 World Cup) is starting in June, we have the IPL before that and the series against Afghanistan…”
