The highly anticipated Champions Trophy 2025 has finally started with the defending champions Pakistan taking on New Zealand in the ongoing match of the tournament at National Bank Stadium in Karachi. The fans are excited as the 50-over tournament is coming after eight years. Apart from that, it also turns out to be a big moment for the Pakistan Cricket Board as an ICC event has returned to the country after 29 years. However, the former English cricketer Michael Vaughan doesn’t seem happy with the response by the Pakistani fans despite the home team playing the opening game of the tournament.

The Champions Trophy 2025 is the first ICC taking place in Pakistan since 1996. However not many fans showed up to the stadium despite the host nations playing the first match of the tournament. Michael Vaughan also showed his concern by the cold response from the fans in the opening match of the Champions Trophy.

“Great to see the champions trophy being played in Pakistan .. First major event since 1996 .. Have they forgotten to tell the locals it’s on .. Where is the crowd ?? #ChampionsTrophy2025” Vaughan wrote on his X account.

Batting first, the Black Caps were looking to get a good start before Devon Conway lost his wicket at the score of 39 runs in 7.3 overs. After that, Will Young took charge of the innings and went on to complete his century in 107 balls.

New Zealand lost three wickets at the score of 73 runs in 16.2 overs. However, Will Young took the innings further along with Tom Latham as New Zealand are looking forward to post a big total.
