Real Madrid has a different aura when it comes to the transfer window as the club is not known for making a lot of signings in a single window, but whenever it sets sight on a player, they more often than not end up luring him to the club due to his glorious history and playing prospect. And the latest name that seems to be on their list is Arsenal’s main-stay centre-back William Saliba. The Galacticos seem to be interesting in signing the player in the upcoming transfer window although his current contract with Arsenal runs up until 2027.
This would mean that Real Madrid will have to shell out a decent share of money if they want to sign the 24-year-old French defender. Saliba has been one of the most exciting young centre-backs in recent times and has developed into a quality player under Mikel Arteta. Early reports suggest that Real Madrid are very keen on obtaining his signature in the coming months and will push really hard to make the deal happen. Juni Calafat, who is the primary scout for Los Blancos, seems to have Saliba up his list for a long time.
Madrid face major defensive crisis during crunch period of LaLiga title race
The possible signing of Saliba will serve as a very big boost for Real Madrid as they are currently suffering a major defensive crisis in the final crunch period of this season. All of their first-choice defenders including, Eder Militao, David Alaba, Antonio Rudiger, Dani Carvajal, and Ferland Mendy are all out due to injury issues. While Madrid is out of competitions like the Champions League and Copa Del Rey, they are still in the La Liga title race and will face a significant blow due to these absentees.
Although Saliba’s potential arrival in the summer transfer window will not have any effect on Madrid’s current campaign, it will offer an enhanced squad depth to the club for the upcoming season as it will go out determined to win more titles that in this current underwhelming season.
