Team India player Prithvi Shaw, who used to be compared to Sachin Tendulkar a few years back, has divulged that the Master Blaster met him and showed belief in him to bounce back. Shaw hit the headlines in November 2024 when he failed to attract any buyers in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 auction held in Jeddah. Things got worse for him when Mumbai dropped him from their Ranji Trophy 2024-25 squad midway. His unprecedented decline became the talking point in the media and among cricket supporters.

In an interview with News 24, Prithvi Shaw revealed that he received support from legend Sachin Tendulkar, who met him a few months ago. "Hardly two months ago, he was practising at MIG for the (International) Masters League. I was also there. At such a time, you need a mentor who gives a spark. He still believes in me. 'Prithvi, I have belief and I will continue to believe.' He has seen me. He has trust. 'Get back on track. Everything is still possible.' That belief is very precious to me. Just like my father and a few friends believe," said Prithvi Shaw.

Prithvi Shaw and and Arjun Tendulkar grew together as players

Prithvi Shaw and Sachin Tendulkar’s son Arjun Tendulkar have known each other since the age of eight and they have played a lot of cricket together. Both have evolved together as players while playing with each other in Mumbai. Earlier, this year, Arjun returned to Goa to give a boost to his career.

Following Arjun’s footsteps, Shaw has also parted ways with Mumbai to serve another state in the upcoming domestic season. On June 23, he received a No-Objection Certificate (NOC) from Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) to don another team’s jersey in the upcoming assignments.
