Former cricketer Ambati Rayudu questioned Lucknow Super Giants skipper Rishabh Pant for his batting order and the approach in the ongoing IPL 2025. The wicketkeeper batter got out for a mere 18(17) runs in the last game against Punjab Kings in Dharamshala as LSG suffered their sixth defeat of the season. Coming to bat at number four, Pant registered another failure in the ongoing IPL season.
Being the most expensive buy in IPL history, Rishabh Pant had a forgettable season with the bat this year where he could only amass only 128 runs in 11 matches at an average of 12.80. Reacting to his poor show in IPL 2025, Ambati Rayudu said that Pant is being stubborn and want to control the things in his way.
“I think, at this point in time, I'm feeling very sorry for him because he's not been changing his batting order or his approach. I think he's being pretty stubborn about how he wants to go about things. It's not working in his favour at the moment," Rayudu said on his conversation with ESPN Cricinfo
Pant is going through a very, very bad patch: Ambati Rayudu
Speaking further, Ambati Rayudu advised Rishabh Pant to accept that he isn’t in a great form and wants him to change his approach. The star-wicketkeeper was bought by LSG for a whopping INR 27 crore in the mega auction, making him the most expensive buy in IPL history. He was also appointed as LSG captain and under his captaincy, Lucknow are currently at the seventh spot in the points table with five wins and six losses so far.
"It happens in this sport, to be very honest, and he (Pant) is going through a very, very bad patch. It can happen to anybody. I just hope that he takes this learning and improves on it and doesn't become even more stubborn, but just accepts the fact that he is struggling and starts doing things a little differently [and] try and get better every day. That's all you can do," Ambati Rayudu said.
