All the domestic European competitions are nearing the business end with just six to seven games remaining before the season ends. And the Premier League; which is considered to be one of the most competitive football leagues across the world, could have its winner decided after tonight’s matchday 33 fixtures. Liverpool has been long predicted to pick up this year’s PL title by fans and pundits alike but they could make that a reality tonight if some other team’s results also go their way. Liverpool will be taking on Leicester City tonight at the King Power Stadium and a win would lead them to a PL title on one condition.

And the condition is the match result of their rival Arsenal’s game against Ipswich Town, who are currently second in the Premier League table. Liverpool currently has a 13-point lead over Arsenal and a win tonight for Liverpool along with a loss for Arsenal could see the gap being extended to 16 points; which mathematically puts the PL title out of reach for the Gunners. Liverpool has suffered defeats in two major cup competitions this season including the Champions League and Carabao Cup and will be eager to get over the line as quickly as possible to lift their 20th PL title.

Mikel Arteta could rest key players for Arsenal after gruelling midweek tie against Real Madrid

Talking about their recent form, Liverpool are coming off a 2-1 win against West Ham and have had a week-long rest before today’s match. Arsenal on the other hand, is coming off a dismal 1-1 draw against Brentford from the last PL matchday but have secured a spot in the Champions League semi-final after an emphatic win midweek against Real Madrid.

This win however means that the players are coming off a long week of intense footballing action and are likely to be fatigued. It will be interesting to see whether Arteta chooses to rest some of his key players in order to rest them as the Premier League title race seems to be well over with the kind of lead Liverpool have at the top of the table.
