Former Team India batter Manoj Tiwary has raised questions on the India versus Pakistan Asia Cup 2025 match scheduled to be played on September 14, 2025. On July 26, the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) came up with the announcement that the Men's Asia Cup 2025 will be played in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) from September 9 to 28, and the high-octane clash between India and Pakistan will be held on September 14. Following this announcement, the debate has risen in India whether Team India should play against the Men in Green following the Pahalgam Terror Attack in April 2025.

In this debate, Manoj Tiwary has also expressed his views. The former India batter said that he is against the scheduled contest between the arch-rivals after the terrorist attack which led to the loss of 26 lives. "I am against it. The India-Pakistan match should not be held. Especially after the terrorist attack in Pahalgam in which civilians have been killed. After that, Operation Sindoor has taken place. The situation was so bad, how can we think of an India-Pakistan match? I feel that it should be considered again and the India-Pakistan match should not happen in such an environment,” said Tiwary in his chat with ANI.

Team India to play as reigning champions in Asia Cup 2025

In the Asia Cup 2025, Team India will enter as defending champions. In the previous edition of the continental competition held in the 50-over format, the Men in Blue beat Sri Lanka in the final and won the title for the eighth time.

This time, the tournament will be held in the 20-over format and India are highly likely to play under Suryakumar Yadav’s captaincy. The competition will be crucial for the reigning champions as they will also look to solidify their preparation for the T20 World Cup 2026 to be jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka.
