The 16th edition of the Indian Premier League is finally living up to its expectation as the best T20 Cricket tournament in the world with four last-ball finishes in as many days. Yesterday on April 12 at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium, Sandeep Singh was able to defend 4 runs successfully on the last ball against the mighty finisher MS Dhoni. In this matchup, Jos Buttler of RR scored an enterprising fifty against a very tough CSK bowling attack, which was his third in four matches of the IPL 2023.
Seeing the recent run of big scores from the Englishman in the IPL and international cricket, Harbhajan Singh was happy to call Jos Buttler, quote-unquote, “The no.1 batter in the world,” on Star Sports Cricket Live show ahead of the likes of Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Babar Azam, and Joe Root, among others.
Bhajji was full of admiration for the batting style of Buttler and said, "I fell short of words to praise Jos Buttler. He is a proper batter of the cricket ball. He uses the crease to perfection, possesses good technique, and he has good footwork against pace and spin. For me, he's the No. 1 batter in world cricket at the moment."
Jos Buttler, who won the orange cap for Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2022, has started the new season with a bang. Currently, he has scored 204 runs in just four matches at an incredible strike rate of 170 and an average of 51. Buttler also joined the illustrious club of batters to score 3000 runs in the IPL as the third quickest in 85 innings, behind KL Rahul and Chris Gayle.
