Pakistan pacer Mohammad Amir has expressed despondence for being ignored by his national team’s cricket setup after the T20 World Cup 2024, held in the United States and West Indies. Amir, along with Imad Wasim, came out of his retirement to serve Pakistan in the massive tournament. Pakistan got eliminated in the first round of the competition after losing to the co-hosts, United States and arch-rivals India but Amir had a decent tournament as he became the leading wicket-taker from his team in the marquee event. The pacer took seven wickets in four matches at a thrifty economy of 4.50.

Ahead of his Pakistan Super League (PSL) team Quetta Gladiators' match against Karachi Kings on April 25, Amir spoke to a local TV channel and said, "I felt sidelined and ignored by the Pakistan cricket setup after the T20 World Cup. After the T20 World Cup ended, no one even talked to me. No one told me if I was part of the future plans. A wise person understands the signs - if you're not in the plans, then you have to think about yourself. That's exactly what I did. I've made up my mind now - thank you very much, international cricket," said Amir. In December 2024, Amir retired from international cricket again.

Quetta Gladiators to take on Karachi Kings at the Gaddafi Stadium on April 25

Quetta’s next encounter will be against Karachi Kings at the iconic Gaddafi Stadium on April 25. Gladiators have lost two games in a row after winning their opening match against Peshawar Zalmi by 80 runs on April 12. Currently, the Saud Shakeel-led side is in the fifth spot on the points tally.

Both Quetta and Karachi played against each other at the National Bank Stadium on April 18. As hosts, Karachi looked phenomenal and hammered Gladiators by 56 runs. Kings are holding the second spot on the points table with three wins and two losses in five outings.
