A fan asked former India opener Gautam Gambhir why he always gives controversial statements, to which he responded honestly. Gambhir is known for his straightforward and blunt remarks, and this nature of the cricketer has landed him into several controversies. The 2011 World Cup winner has always been surrounded by controversies, and when a fan asked him the reason behind this, the cricketer responded.
The cricketer-turned-politician hosted a question/answer session for his fans on the social media platform, X. In the session, Gambhir answered questions of his fans, when a fan asked him the reason behind his regular controversial statements. Responding to the question, Gambhir said that he says what he thinks is right. He then went on to ask his fans who benefits from the controversy, taking an indirect jibe at the media.
The fan asked him, “Why you always give so many controversial statements? #AskGG.” The Kolkata Knight Riders mentor replied, “I say what I feel. You should think who benefits from the controversies!” Not only this but during the session, Gambhir also revealed the reason behind his sharp memory and said that he eats healthy and doesn’t drink alcohol or smoke cigarettes. The 42-year-old also jokingly shared that marrying his wife, Natasha has been his life’s defining moment.
Talking about his career, Gambhir played a key role in the Indian cricket team, helping the side clinch several big trophies, including the 2011 World Cup and T20 World Cup 2007. He represented India in 58 Tests, 147 ODIs, and 37 T20I matches from 2003 to 2016.
