Chennai Super Kings batter Ajinkya Rahane credited skipper MS Dhoni for his powerful form in the current season of the Indian Premier League. The veteran cricketer has been continuing to wow fans with his magnificent knocks and a simply never-seen-before power hitting in the Indian Premier League 2023. Rahane also took a dig at his former IPL franchises KKR and DC for lack of opportunities to play.
In CSK’s last clash against the Kolkata Knight Riders, Rahane smashed his second half-century for the season with an unbeaten 29-ball-71 leading his team to victory by a margin of 49 runs.
Rahane in a post-match presentation said that the cricketer had been in search of an opportunity that MS Dhoni gave him. He said, "The only thing I tell you... I really enjoyed my knock, really happy that we won this match. You get a chance to learn many things when you play under Mahi Bhai (MS Dhoni). As a batter and cricketer, you always want to grow."
Taking a jibe at his previous IPL teams, he said, “The turning point is here I'm getting chances to play. I was really happy when CSK picked me. They gave me (the) opportunity to play and express myself. If you see, I was not getting opportunities to play one-two years ago. And, if you don't play matches, how would you show what shots do you have in your armoury," he continued.
