Iceland Cricket took a dig at Peshawar Zalmi’s captain Babar Azam for his another disastrous batting performance in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025. Against Multan Sultans at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, Peshawar won their first game by a humongous margin of 120 runs but their veteran skipper again disappointed fans with his underwhelming batting show. Batting first after winning the toss, when Zalmi lost their young opener Saim Ayub early in the second over of the match, the 30-year-old was expected to stand at the crease and deliver a responsible innings to his team.
However, Babar crumbled under pressure again and became a victim of pacer David Willey in the third over of the contest and departed towards the pavilion with his score of two off five. Noting his terrible batting performance, Iceland Cricket took to X and posted a video of his dismissal with a caption, “Class is temporary, form is permanent.” The right-handed batter has amassed only three runs in this competition, with a humiliating average of 1.00. In Peshawar’s three outings, his scores were 0, 1, and 2.
Mohammad Haris emerges as rescuer again
Following the early dismissals of both openers, Mohammad Haris held his nerves and played some exquisite shots from his bat to help Zalmi get over with a horrendous start. The 24-year-old struck an excellent 45 off just 21 which gave confidence to Tom Kohler-Cadmore, who stabilised Peshawar’s innings with the youngster.
Both Tom and Haris stitched a 79-run partnership off just 31 balls. Their crucial stand helped Zalmi post a giant total of 243/5 on the board eventually. Before this game, Haris showcased his valiance against Islamabad United as well, with his sensational 87-run innings which came in just 47 balls. The wicketkeeper-batter is currently the leading run-getter for Peshawar in the tournament, accumulating 145 runs in three matches at a strike rate of 190.78.
