After a famous win at MCG against arch rivals Pakistan on Sunday, Team India will look to solidify their position in Group 2 with another win. The Men in Blue will take on Netherlands on Thursday at Sydney Cricket Ground, Sydney. Meanwhile, it will be a must game for the Netherlands after the side registered a 9-run defeat against Bangladesh in their previous game.
Team India will be high on confidence after registering a stunning win against Pakistan at MCG. The side were reeling at 31/4 at one stage but turned it around thanks to a brilliant partnership between Virat Kohli and Hardik Pandya. The last 2 overs mayhem caused by the chase master Kohli took India over the finishing line.
However, the Men in Blue will be hoping for a more dominant performance against Netherlands. India’s bowling was big plus point as Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Arshdeep Singh, and Mohammad Shami all contributed brilliantly. The opening spell of Bhuvi and Arshdeep will once again be crucial.
Meanwhile, India’s batting needs some improvements. The opening duo of KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma struggled against Pakistan and in-form Suryakumar Yadav failed to register a big score as well. Virat Kohli’s masterclass at MCG is a huge plus point for the Rohit Sharma-led side but the other batters will have to step up as well to show a dominant display. According to reports, Team management is likely to give rest to Hardik Pandya so, performance from the top order becomes more crucial.
On the other hand, Netherlands faced a defeat against Bangladesh in their first match of Super-12. Despite restricting Bangladesh to 144, Netherlands struggled against the Bangladesh’s spinners.
Colin Ackerman was the top scorer for Netherlands as he scored 62 runs in the match. Paul Van Meeckeren had scored 24 runs off 14 balls, but eight of the team's batsmen failed to score even runs in two digits.
However, the side did brilliantly with the ball. Paul Van Meeckeren and Bass de Leede took 2 wickets each. Tim Pringle, Sherriz Ahmed, Logan Van Beek and Fred Klaasen also took a wicket each. However, it will be interesting to see how they come up against India’s heavy batting line-up.
