The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has named the former national team captain Inzamam-ul-Haq as the new chief selector as the ODI World Cup 2023 draws nearer. The 53-year-old is going to take up the responsibility for the second time after the previous chief selector Haroon Rasheed left the job last month.
In his first stint, which lasted for three years from 2016 to 2019, Inzamam-ul-Haq played a pivotal role in helping Pakistan win the ICC Champions Trophy 2017 in England. The Men in Green also took part in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2019 in England, where they finished in fifth place, missing out on the semi-final spot on NRR.

As per the report in Dawn, the top English newspaper in Pakistan, Inzamam-ul-Haq is going to head the selection committee which includes the team director Mickey Arthur, head coach Grant Bradburn, and a secretary named Hasan Cheema, who deals with data analysis for the national team.
The former captain of Pakistan is going to vacate his place in the Cricket Technical Committee, appointed by the PCB Chairman Zaka Ashraf, as per an ESPNcricinfo report. The replacement for Inzamam-ul-Haq in the aforementioned committee, which has members like Misbah-ul-Haq and Mohammad Hafeez, will be announced in due course.
The decision for the appointment of the 53-year-old as the chief selector was taken by the PCB Chairman Zaka Ashraf, instead of the Cricket Technical Committee, who had the responsibility to make this call in the first place.
Furthermore, Inzamam-ul-Haq will get remuneration for fulfilling his responsibilities as the chief selector of the Pakistan cricket team. It wasn’t the case for him in the Cricket Technical Committee, because the job was unpaid.
