CSK started the season with a five-wicket loss against the title holders Gujarat Titans on the back of Rashid Khan’s all-around performance. Ruturaj Gaikwad started the season in great form as he carried CSK’s batting with his 50-ball 92. Nobody other than Ruturaj really got going and they fell at least 20 runs short of a par score on a flat Ahmedabad track.
In the second innings, the first impact player of IPL, Tushar Deshpande came on and leaked runs as he went for 51 runs in his 3.2 overs. Raj Hangargekar, the debutant was the pick of the bowlers as he picked up three crucial wickets along with Jadeja who finished with figures of 28/1 in his four overs. Deepak Chahar came back from injury and bowled three good overs while his fourth one went for runs. The men in yellow will try and fix the issues in the fast-bowling department and the batsmen will be looking to get back in form against LSG.
On the other hand, Lucknow Super Giants have a balanced side with KL Rahul as the captain and their leader in the batting line-up. While Ravi Bishnoi and Jaydev Unadkat will lead the bowling attack. KL Rahul is one of the best-limited overs batsmen around and a proven captain since LSG finished third in their debut season so there will be high expectations from him and the team. The Super Giants may miss the services of their star opener Quinton de Kock who is on duty with his national team against the Netherlands.
