Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) defeated Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by six wickets to ensure they stay alive in the playoff s race. CSK batting first posted 144/6 in 20 overs with the help of Shivam Dube's unbeaten 48 runs. Chennai batters completely collapsed to Kolkata's spin web as Varun Chakravarthy and Sunil Narine picked two wickets each to their name.
Initially, KKR was struggling in the run-chase as they got reduced to 33/3 in 4.3 overs, but a 99-run partnership between Nitish Rana and Rinku Singh ensured they chased down 145 runs comfortably against CSK. Deepak Chahar picked three wickets for Chennai in the powerplay, but the rest of the bowlers went wicketless.
