2016 IPL champions, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) concluded their 2024 campaign as runners-up under Pat Cummins' captaincy but this time, they will look to showcase their best again and finish the task which they couldn’t in the previous edition of the league. In the IPL 2025 auction, held in Jeddah, the SRH team management bought some quality players such as Mohammed Shami, Adam Zampa, Harshal Patel and Rahul Chahar for the season and they will now strive to get the best out of these exceptional talents.
With the marquee T20 tournament less than three weeks away, SportsTiger has come up with the Orange Army’s strongest playing XI for IPL 2025.
Openers: Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma
Openers, Travis Head and Abhishek will carry the responsibility to accumulate runs swiftly in the powerplay overs and deliver a quality start to their side. Head was the leading run-getter for Hyderabad in 2024, notching up 567 runs in 15 matches.
Middle-order batters: Ishan Kishan, Abhishek Manohar, and Heinrich Klaasen
Ishan Kishan will look to make his debut season for SRH magnificent with his batting . Abhishek Manohar might be handed the task to serve the team in the middle-order. Heinrich Klaasen is known for his explosive batting style and his experience and prowess will be crucial for the Orange Army.
All-rounders: Nitish Kumar Reddy and Pat Cummins
Nitish Kumar Reddy will be expected to be excellent in all departments of the game. Reddy was one of the five retained players of SRH for 2025. The youngster looked confident with his bat during India's tour of Australia for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25, played from November 2024 to January 2025. Pat Cummins’ endeavours will be to lead the side from the front to bag the coveted trophy after nine years.
Bowlers: Mohammed Shami, Harshal Patel, Jaydev Unadkat, and Adam Zampa
Mohammed Shami will be vital for SRH as he will have to assist his skipper Pat Cummins to serve the fast-bowling attack efficiently. Harshal Patel also has vast experience and noting his potential, SRH will expect him to be impactful with the ball. Jaydev Unadkat looked decent for Saurashtra in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2024-25 and he will have to maintain his form to bolster Hyderabad’s pace attack. Adam Zampa will look to be effective in his new side as his responsibility will be to spearhead Sunrisers’ spin-bowling unit confidently.
Impact player: Rahul Chahar for Abhishek Sharma
Rahul Chahar might be seen breaking into the playing XI replacing opener Abhishek Sharma. He along with Zampa can pose a threat to batters as he has proven himself with his leg-break bowling in the past
