2. Matthew Hayden - IPL 2009
Chennai Super Kings’ star batter Matthew Hayden ended up winning the Orange cap in IPL 2009 for being the leading run scorer in that edition. The opening batter ended up scoring 572 runs from 12 matches in IPL 2009 at an average of 52 along with five half-centuries to his name that year.
3. Sachin Tendulkar - IPL 2010
Indian great Sachin Tendulkar finally got his hands on the orange cap for his memorable performance in IPL 2010. The Mumbai Indians’ skipper led from the front and ended up scoring 618 runs from 15 matches at an average of 47.83 along with five fifties. With the help of his performance, MI made it to their first-ever IPL final that year.
4. Chris Gayle - IPL 2011
Playing his first season for Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Chris Gayle took the IPL 2011 season on fire and ended up becoming the leading run getter that year. The left–hander amassed 607 runs from 12 matches in IPL 2011 along with two centuries and three fifties at an average of 67.55.
5. Chris Gayle - IPL 2012
Chris Gayle became the first batter in IPL history to win an orange cap in two consecutive IPL seasons. This time, he performed even batter than the previous edition as he amassed 733 runs from 15 matches in IPL 2012 at an average of 61.08 along with a hundred and seven half-centuries.
6. Michael Hussey - IPL 2013
Michael Hussey equalled Chris Gayle’s record for most runs in an IPL season that time when he won the orange cap while playing for Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2013. Hussey ended up scoring 733 runs from 17 matches in IPL 2013 at an average of 52.35 along with six fifties.
7. Robin Uthappa - IPL 2014
Robin Uthappa became the first batter in IPL history to win an orange cap in an IPL winning cause after Kolkata Knight Riders clinched their second title in 2014. For KKR, Uthappa ended up scoring 660 runs from 16 matches in IPL 2014 at an average of 44 along with five fifties.
8. David Warner - IPL 2015
David Warner won first of his multiple orange caps in IPL in the eighth edition of the tournament in 2015. Leading Sunrisers Hyderabad, Warner ended up scoring 562 runs from 14 matches in IPL 2015 at an average of 43.23 along with seven half-centuries.
9. Virat Kohli - IPL 2016
Royal Challengers Bengaluru star batter Virat Kohli shattered all records during the iconic IPL season in 2016 where he smashed most runs in a single edition of the IPL by any batter. The RCB skipper ended up scoring a record 973 runs from 16 matches in the IPL 2016 at an average of 81.08 along with four hundreds and seven fifties in that season.
10. David Warner - IPL 2017
Winning the orange cap in 2015 and finishing as second highest run scorer in 2016, David Warner again went on to rule the list of leading run scorers in IPL 2017. Playing for SRH, Warner ended up scoring 641 runs from 14 matches at an average of 58.27 along with one hundred and four half-centuries.
11. Kane Williamson - IPL 2018
Taking charge of Sunrisers Hyderabad captaincy in David Warner’s absence, Kane Williamson led from the front by being the highest run getter in IPL 2017 and also led the franchise to their second IPL final that year. Williamson amassed 735 runs from 17 matches in IPL 2017 at an average of 52.50 along with eight half-centuries.
12. David Warner - IPL 2019
Making his return in the IPL, David Warner once again led the chart of highest run scorers in a season and became the first batter to win three orange caps in IPL after he ended up scoring most runs in IPL 2019 while leading Sunrisers Hyderabad. Warner amassed 692 runs from 12 matches in that edition along with one hundred and eight half-centuries at an average of 69.20.
13. KL Rahul - IPL 2020
KL Rahul had his best IPL season with the bat while leading Kings XI Punjab (Punjab Kings) in IPL 2020. The opening batter ended up scoring 670 runs from 14 matches in that edition at an average of 55.83 along with one hundred and five half-centuries.
14. Ruturaj Gaikwad - IPL 2021
Opener Ruturaj Gaikwad turned out to be the best batter as Chennai Super Kings won their fourth IPL title in 2021. Gaikwad ended up scoring 635 runs from 16 matches in IPL 2021 at an average of 45.35 along with one hundred and four half-centuries.
15. Jos Buttler - IPL 2022
Jos Buttller registered his best-ever IPL performance while playing for Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2022. The opening batter amassed 863 runs from 17 matches in IPL 2022 as RR reached the final for the first time after 2008. During his memorable season, Buttler batted with an average of 57.53 along with four hundreds and four fifties.
16. Shubman Gill - IPL 2023
Shubman Gill registered one of the best performances in the IPL and become the second highest run getter in a single IPL season for his outstanding batting in IPL 2023. The opening batter amassed 890 runs from 17 matches at an average of 59.33 in that edition along with three centuries and four half-centuries.
17. Virat Kohli - IPL 2024
