The fourth Test between England and India started on a fiery note at Old Trafford in Manchester. Both the teams are looking in top form and are battling hard to win the Test. The five-match Test series has England leading 2-1 after a cracker of a third Test match at Lord’s in London, in which the hosts managed to defeat India by a narrow margin of 22 runs. Following that, India ended the day one of the fourth test at 264/4 on the board. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sai Sudarshan have scored crucial half-centuries till now which has kept India on the right track.

However, the talking point of yesterday was Rishabh Pant's leg injury off the yorker delivered by the English pacer Chris Woakes, which directly hit his right foot. It caused instant swelling on his foot along with pain due to which the wicketkeeper-batter was hobbling around the pitch. The emergency ambulance had to be called as Rishabh Pant could not walk back to the pavilion, which shocked the Indian fans in particular.

Narayan Jagadeesan expected to join Indian squad ahead of fifth Test vs ENG

The reports on the injury have suggested that Rishabh Pant will be sidelined for six weeks, which is why the Indian selectors got in touch with Ishan Kishan to potentially join the squad for the fifth Test at The Oval in London. But with him informing them about his injury, the Indian selection committee reportedly decided to include Narayan Jagadeesan in the squad for the remainder of the Test series against England, as per the social media post of Devendra Pandey, the Indian Express sports journalist.

With Dhruv Jurel expected to be a part of the playing XI, replacing Rishabh Pant in the fifth Test, Narayan Jagadeesan is likely to be the back-up wicketkeeper. In the ongoing fourth Test, Pant will be available to bat only for India with Jurel taking the gloves from him just like the third Test recently.
