The official schedule for the 2025 Asia Cup is finally out and all eyes are on the match between India and Pakistan. The tournament is scheduled to be played from September 9 to September 28 in UAE and Abu Dhabi. Notably, both India and Pakistan are placed in the same group for the upcoming Asia Cup and are set to play against each other on September 14. As per the format of the tournament, both India and Pakistan might face each other three times in the Asia Cup if they advance to super four and the final.
Notably, the relations haven’t been good between India and Pakistan after the Pahalgam attack in April followed by India’s reply through Operation Sindoor. Both the nations were scheduled to face each other in the ongoing World Championship of Legends (WCL) 2025 but the match was canceled after most of the Indian players decided to withdraw from the game.
We don’t need to win the Asia Cup: Sreevats Goswami
After the schedule for the 2025 Asia Cup was announced, there have been several reactions from the fans regarding the India versus Pakistan clash. Former Indian cricketer Sreevats Goswami also opined that India should not play against Pakistan in the Asia Cup as it will make the people of the nation angry.
“My read on the Asia cup going forward is India to & must forfeit the game against Pakistan& let them qualify. We don’t need to win the Asia cup. The only reason India is participating cause it helps other nations economically or else I don’t see any reason. Ideally this is what should & must happen & if India decides to play against pak it will make the nation angry ! It should !” Goswami wrote on his X.
