India pacer Deepak Chahar has been kept out of action since February. He was first ruled out of India’s T20I series against Sri Lanka. Chahar then missed the entire IPL 2022 season. All of this is because of a hamstring injury he suffered while playing against West Indies earlier this year.

There were chances of the right arm quick getting back to action in the second half of IPL 2022 but Chahar was ultimately ruled out of the entire season with his injury aggravating during his rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru.

The 29-year-old is still recovering from that hamstring injury and as the pacer has revealed, it may take him four or five weeks more to get match fit. Deepak Chahar has updated on his recovery while talking to the news agency PTI. The Rajasthan cricketer has said that although he is able to bowl four to five overs in one go at the moment, it may take him some more time to be able to bowl in a match.

"I am bowling four to five overs at one go as per my rehab programme right now. My recovery is going pretty well and I think it will take another four to five weeks for me to get match fit," Deepak Chahar told PTI after his rehab session at the NCA. The pacer further revealed that being match-fit won’t mean he will be able to play for India straightway but rather he will play a few games first.

"It's a step-by-step process as far as recovery is concerned. I don't think I will be fit for the England T20s. Once I am match fit, I will need to play some club-level games to check my fitness," Deepak Chahar said. On being asked if he will be available for the West Indies tour (July 22 to August 7), the pacer said, "I can't say that but I will definitely try and get fit by then. Let's see.”
