Mumbai Indians (MI) captain Hardik Pandya described no-balls delivered by him and his bowlers in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 game against Gujarat Titans (GT) as a crime. Defending an average target of 156, Mumbai fought until the last delivery of the game but couldn’t save the total eventually. During the game, rain also intervened for a brief moment which curtailed one over in the second innings. GT chased down the revised target of 147 on the last delivery of the match and Shubman Gill received the player of the match (POTM) award for his decent batting innings of 43 off 46 and excellent fielding performance in the game. Earlier, Hardik bowled a couple of no-balls in the eighth over of the second innings. Following his footsteps, Deepak Chahar also bowled an illegal delivery in the last over while defending 15 runs. These invalid deliveries cost Mumbai heavily in the end.

After the game, Hardik talked about the no-balls bowled in the game and he remarked, "Catches did not really cost us, but the no-balls, with my no-balls and even in the last no-ball, in my eyes in T20s, it is a crime and more often than not, it bites you. But I am really happy with the boys for giving their 120 percent, ensuring we were in the game and not giving up.”

MI’s winning streak ends with loss against GT

With the defeat against Gujarat Titans, Mumbai Indians winning streak has come to an end. Hardik Pandya and his men made an exceptional comeback in the tournament, by winning six games on the trot, after winning only one off their initial five games. The loss against Gujarat has relegated Mumbai to the fourth spot on the points tally.

Talking about GT, they have reclaimed the top spot after getting the better of Mumbai. They are now leading the table with eight wickets and three losses. Both teams will play their next matches on May 11. GT will square off against Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium while MI will lock horns with Punjab Kings (PBKS) at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) Ground.
