Spain’s young goalkeeper Joan Garcia is all set to become a member of FC Barcelona as he has given his nod to the Catalan club after meeting with his agents and family. Garcia is getting lucrative offers from eminent Premier League clubs including Manchester City and Arsenal as well. However, reports have claimed that he has preferred new La Liga champions over the both distinguished English clubs. Arsenal were in talks with Garcia, who was seen as a perfect back up for his compatriot David Raya. However, the talks between Spaniard and Gunners lost the track due to valuation issues. With Ederson’s uncertain future with Manchester City, the club were looking to rope in Garcia. There have been several instances when City’s manager Pep Guardiola also commended Garcia.
As per reports from Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona will activate the shot-stopper's €25 million (£21m/$28m) release clause to sign up the young goalkeeper for the next five years. If the reports turn out to be true, Joan Garcia will become the fourth player in the modern era to make a direct contact between two same city-based clubs Espanyol and Barcelona.
Barca will evolve with many of their same players, says Deco
Sporting Director of Barcelona Deco recently spoke to BBC Sport and said that Barcelona will grow with many of their same players. He said the club will sign two to four players in the upcoming transfer window but also stressed on not making crazy signings. "[Barcelona will] not sell our best players [and] can grow with many of the same players. [It will be] two, three or four signings, [without recruiting] like crazy," remarked Deco.
There are several reports that assert that the La Liga champions are targeting England’s Marcus Rashford and Colombia’s Luizs Diaz. Rashford is currently a part of United while striker Diaz has been associated with Liverpool since 2022.
