On Sunday, December 31, Jamshedpur FC named Khalid Jamil as their new head coach after Scott Cooper parted ways with the club via mutual agreement. The 46-year-old is set to take charge of Jamshedpur FC with the Kalinga Super Cup fixture in January, which will be followed by the remaining Indian Super League (ISL) matches for the 2023-24 season.

Khalid Jamil, an AFC Pro Licensed Coach, has been a massive success story both as a player and in a managerial role in Indian football. Notably, he is the first Indian to be the permanent head coach in the Indian Super League (ISL), taking NorthEast United to the playoffs of the competition too.

After achieving football accolades like the I-League Best Coach award for the 2016-17 season and the FPAI Coach of the Year award for the 2020-21 ISL season, Khalid Jamil is expected to take Jamshedpur FC to the next level in the next few months.

The CEO of Jamshedpur FC, Mukul Choudari spoke about the new head coach for the club and said, “I welcome Khalid Jamil, a coach with thorough experience in ISL and I-League. We have everything to play for with the Kalinga Super Cup and half of the ISL remaining. Hence, we believe he has the understanding, experience and track record in Indian Football to build and take us forward, starting with the very next game.”

Following his appointment as the new head coach of Jamshedpur FC, Khalid Jamil expressed his happiness on joining the club and said, “I want to thank the club management to give me this opportunity and I feel very excited to join Jamshedpur FC. Our target is to bring Jamshedpur FC in a better position and for that we all must work hard to bring Jamshedpur on top.”

He also sent out this message to the club fans, “Keep supporting Jamshedpur FC, we need your support in every match, more than ever.”
