In the latest turn of events, wicketkeeper-batter KL Rahul is all set to remain out of action for a considerable time, following a decent campaign in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. According to recent reports, KL Rahul is set to miss Karnataka’s Ranji Trophy match against Punjab, which is scheduled to begin from Thursday, January 23.

As reported by news agency PTI, the Indian batter will continue to rehabilitate from the elbow niggle and has conveyed about his absence from the next round of Ranji Trophy 2024-25. Furthermore, it is to be noted that he has informed of BCCI medical staff of the same and they are monitoring him as well.

However, the Karnataka State Cricket Association is yet to announce the squad for their match against Punjab, KL Rahul is likely to return in match against Haryana, scheduled to commence from January 30. On the other hand, other Indian players including Devdutt Padikkal and Prasidh Krishna have confirmed their availability after they featured in the Vijay Hazare Trophy knockouts.

In another move, it is being reported that star Indian batter Virat Kohli has also pulled out his name from Delhi’s probables for the sixth round of Ranji Trophy 2024-25. This comes after reports revealed that Kohli has informed the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) that he is battling some niggle.

Kohli reportedly experienced neck pain and received injection on January 8, just days after the completion of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25. As reported by ESPNcricinfo, the 36-year-old has informed BCCI medical staff that the pain persisted,leading to his unavailability for Delhi’s match against Saurashtra in Rajkot.
