BGMI developers Krafton took significant action by banning eight teams from the Battlegrounds Mobile India Series (BGIS) 2024. After the investigations in the recently concluded Round 1 of the tournament, it was confirmed that these teams engaged in several activities that violated the tournament regulations. In addition, the teams that have been banned were also involved in using unauthorised software modifications and collaborations with players with cheating devices.
The banned teams from the prestigious BGMI tournament include Carbon7, Atletico Marathas, Valhalla Esports, Edge Mavericks, TeamBR06, Team No Scope, Peaky Blinders, and Detonation Gaming. Since they have been banned, all their results from the tournament will be nullified. With disqualifying teams from the tournament, Krafton emphasised its commitment to maintaining a fair and competitive environment.
The developers also announced the redistribution of points from the banned teams, informing the remaining teams that their points will be redistributed evenly. Not only this, but they revealed that the seedings for the upcoming matches will be revised based on the points total, aiming for equitable conditions for competition.
Krafton urged the remaining teams to review their new standings and prepare for the upcoming matches accordingly. The company also emphasised its zero-tolerance policy towards any form of malpractice and reaffirmed the commitment to preserve the decorum of the tournament.
