The Champions Trophy 2025 is delivering some unprecedented action to passionate cricket supporters. In the ongoing fourth match between Australia and England at the Gaddafi Stadium, the latter are riding high after their opener Ben Duckett’s exceptional batting show. Playing his debut Champions Trophy match, Duckett pummelled Australia’s underconfident bowling attack and racked up his third ton. His innings concluded after scoring 165 runs off just 143 deliveries. The opener’s innings was studded with 20 boundaries which included 17 fours and three maximums. His batting efforts helped England to notch up 351/8 in their 50 overs.

Duckett owned some amazing batting feats with his incredible innings. His knock has also gone into the record books as the first 150-run knock by any batter in Champions Trophy history. 5. Sachin Tendulkar’s 141 against Australia in 1998

Back in 1998, when India claimed a 44-run win against Australia in the third quarter-final of the Knockout Trophy in Dhaka, Sachin Tendulkar chipped in with his 141-run innings off just 128 balls, with the help of 16 boundaries (13 fours and three maximums). Riding on the Master Blaster’s innings, India posted 307/8 on the board which later proved too tall for the Aussies to chase. Tendulkar became the player of the match (POTM) for his batting brilliance.

4. Sourav Ganguly’s unbeaten 141 against South Africa in 2000

Sourav Ganguly’s batting heroics helped India to hand South Africa a 95-run defeat in the Knockout Trophy 2000 semi-final match held in Nairobi. Taking the Protea bowling attack to the cleaners, he scored an unbeaten 141 off 142 with 11 fours and six maximums. Ganguly’s knock took India to 295/6 in 50 overs. Replying to the target, South Africa got bundled out at a score of 200 in 41 overs. Ganguly’s batting also got him the POTM award. 

3. Andy Flower’s 145 against Zimbabwe in 2002

Back in the Champions Trophy 2002, India bagged a 14-run win against Zimbabwe in Colombo but the match is remembered for Andy Flower’s magnificent batting performance. Following 289 runs, when Zimbabwe lost their openers Dion Ebrahim and Alistair Campbell early, Andy Flower stepped up and produced a phenomenal fight innings of 145 runs from his bat. In the end, Zimbabwe lost the game but Flower became the second batter from his team to score a century in the Champions Trophy.

2. Nathan Astle’s unbeaten 145 against the USA in 2004

In the 2004 Champions Trophy, former New Zealand opener Nathan Astle hammered USA at the Oval and helped his team post 347/4 on the board. Astle became the highest individual scorer then in the Champions Trophy as he struck an unbeaten 145 off 151. The associate team surrendered on 137 while following the mammoth target and Astle became the recipient of the POTM award in his team’s 210-run success. 

1. Ben Duckett’s 165 against Australia in Lahore

In the ongoing game between England and Australia in Lahore, Ben Duckett smashed 165 off 143 and recorded several feats to his name. With this score, he has surpassed Nathan Astle’s 145-run record to become the player with the highest individual score in the Champions Trophy. As mentioned above, the southpaw has also become the first batter to score 150 runs in the 50-over ODI tournament.
